About Us

The Bronnum Lutheran Seminary

Bronnum Lutheran Seminary (BLS) has a rich legacy spanning over 35 years. Affiliated with two prestigious universities—Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, for Diploma programs, and the University of Jos for Degree programs—BLS has continually nurtured leaders for Christian ministry and education. We extend our gratitude to the Adamawa State Government and the Ministry of Education for recommending the affiliation of our degree programs to the University of Jos.
The institution’s journey began in 1951 as a Bible School in Numan and later moved to Dashen in Jada Local Government Area, where it transitioned into an English training institution. By 1974, it was upgraded to a Bible College and began awarding Grade III certificates. In 1985, it was further elevated to a Seminary, offering Diplomas in Christian Education and Ministry. The Seminary relocated to Yola in 1990, marking a significant chapter in its growth.
This year, 2020, marks the 35th anniversary of Bronnum Lutheran Seminary, with an impressive record of 1,154 graduates across various programs:
1. Bible College Graduates (1974–1989): 231
2. Diploma in Christian Ministry Graduates (1985–2019): 726
3. Bachelor’s Degree Graduates (2007–2019): 197

BLS has become a cornerstone for the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), with 90% of its pastors being alumni of this great institution.
As we celebrate this milestone, we honor our founding fathers, including the late Bishop Akila Todi, Rev. Dr. Harvey Nelson, who generously donated his personal library to establish the Seminary’s program in 1985, and our first principal, the late Bishop Phanuel Borkono Agongtara. Their dedication laid a strong foundation for BLS. Today, we continue their legacy, striving for excellence in theological education and ministry.

At Bronnum Lutheran Seminary, we are committed to shaping leaders of faith and integrity, prepared to serve the church and society with excellence and compassion.
